August 27 - 30

This week we will be reading "Big Rigs" starting on page 94 in our books.  Please help your child read this story on Tuesday and Wednesday night.  In reading we will be working on short i words, high frequency words, classifying words and contractions.  Your child will have homework in reading every night this week.

In math we will be working on Ordering Numbers to 20, Ordinal Numbers and Using Data from a graph.  Your child will have homework on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday regarding these different topics.

We will continue to work on writing sentences.  On Wednesday they get to write a letter to either Mrs. Gaskill or myself.  This teaches us the proper techniques of writing a letter.

In handwriting we will be working on slant lines and numerals.

We will continue to work on phonics by coding words and learning a different letter each and every day.

Our spelling words this week include:
  1. in
  2. pin
  3. pig
  4. big
  5. dig
  6. did
  7. had
  8. sat
  9. no
  10. too
  11. five
  12. six
Our pre-test this week will be Tuesday and the post-test will be Thursday.  Please help your child by studying :)

The World of 1st Graders

Welcome to our classroom blog! I am hoping this is a place that parents and friends can come and see what is going on in our world in Room 112.  We are working hard and after 8 days of school I am already seeing children working hard and accomplishing so much.  It is awesome that I get to watch these kids the whole year and not have to leave them to move on to another job.  This is my job and I am loving it!

I will be posting spelling words, class projects and any other information that I find interesting.  Please keep your eye on the page and I will try to keep it updated as much as possible.  :)  Please feel free to leave any comments or questions down below.  Happy following. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy entering 1st grade through our blog!
