Sept 17 - 21

I apologize for being late on posting this week! It just slipped my mind.

In reading, we are reading "A Tall, Tall Wall", "All on the Map" and "Roads."  Our story this week starts on page 200.  The kiddos will be bringing their reader home on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You will see a new reader starting next week!

We will be working on the -all sound this week. We will be doing our high frequency words, classifying and categorizing, contractions and asking questions.

In math, we will continue to work on addition with lessons 2.5 to 2.8. These lessons include adding in any order, ways to make the number 8, vertical addition sentences and ways to make numbers to 10. On Friday, we will review those lessons so I can see who is grasping it and who is not.  We will continue with timed tests and centers through this week.

In writing we wrote about some of our favorite places.  They were sooo cute! We are going to draw and write about a frog, write to Mrs. Gaskill, write about our favorite thing to do on recess and talk about questions.

Handwriting begins with the letter L, l words, I, I i, i words and finishing out with the letter T t.  We are really trying to be as good as we can in handwriting. I believe everyone is capable of good handwriting it just takes time and persistence.

Phonics we are talking about the H, G, R, assessments and K.

Our spelling words this week include:
  1. all
  2. call
  3. fall
  4. wall
  5. ball
  6. tall
  7. not
  8. top
  9. much
  10. thank
  11. red
  12. blue
Pre-Test on Wednesday and Post-Test on Friday.

We will be introducing our theme of Johnny Appleseed as next weekend is his birthday!  We will be doing art and talking about his contributions to us today. Apples :)

Friday we will celebrate both Mrs. Gaskill and Kresta as their birthdays are in September.  We will begin at around 2:45.  If weather permits we will go out by the softball field tables to enjoy our treats.  Anyone is welcome to attend.

Have a great week!
