We will be working on the digraph /k/ ck, our high frequency words, the beginning, middle and end of stories, the ill and it and telling parts of a sentence.
In math, we will be preparing for our test at the end of the week. We will be reviewing chapter 1 by doing the extra practice, standard quick check and looking ahead.
Writing will be another top priority as we are continuing to work on sentences, writing to Mrs. Gaskill, the telling parts of a sentence and finishing out the week with drawing and writing about a bird.
In handwriting, we will work on the rest of the numbers and review the numerals we worked on last week.
Phonics we are working on suffixes, blends, the letter D and finishing up the week with an assessment over the first 15 lessons.
Our spelling words this week focus on the /k/ ck sound:
- pick
- pack
- tack
- back
- sack
- sick
- big
- in
- hold
- so
- seven
- eight
We will be working on our fair project for the week. We are entering the poster contest. I am letting the children choose between "Be Smart and Don't Start!" or "How I Exercise." I will be sending a note home just letting you know we are entering something. If this is NOT something you would like I will not send your child's poster. I am sure your child will want to check out their poster sometime next weekend.
This week we are starting to do centers. We will have math and reading centers. We are also adding a word of the day. This week they include: an, as, by and let. We also are adding a number of the day, 0,1, 2 and 3 will be on the agenda for this week.
Your child will have reading homework every day this week : )
